LITTLE, BROWN COVER DESIGN BRIEF
Printed mock-up
This project is the outcome of a university project with some of the designers from Little, Brown books. The brief asked us to design and develop a reimagined book jacket for Daphne Du Maurier’s classic short story collection ‘After Midnight’. The brief required a design for a hardback gift edition of the book, with the purpose of being sold in stores and online retailers. The design had to be scalable whilst eye-catching and in keeping with the gothic tone of the book. The illustration is inspired by one of the stories: ‘The Birds’, which was famously adapted into a film by Alfred Hitchcock. By choosing this element to centre the cover around, it aims to draw in viewers of the film and inspire them to read the original short story.
