THESE WOODS WILL EAT ME ALIVE
‘THESE WOODS ARE GOING TO EAT ME ALIVE’ Illustrated publication
This is a self-directed project I completed as part of my University studies. I created a concept for a story whose illustrations would convey the narrative mainly through imagery. The idea is the story of an unlucky traveller who stumbles upon a cult of feral women living deep in the woods, wearing animal- and monster-like clothing and performing rituals and spells. Inspiration for this came from my own walks in the woods and the scenery from my own photography, translated into a consistent illustrative style. The publication format streamlines the story into a clear narrative; however, understanding the story isn't essential, as I aimed to create a sense of this world through imagery alone.

FOUND OBJECTS AND ARTEFACTS
When I began this project, I wanted to start with a practical task to get a sense of the world I was building. I did this by creating sculptures of items I imagined the cult had made and used in its rituals and community. I used methods that involved mostly natural materials and the use of wax in place of glue to add a sense of realism to the pieces.
